अनुष्का शर्मा संग अपनी सगाई की अफवाहों पर विराम लगाते हुए विराट ने ट्वीट किया कि उन दोनों की अभी सगाई नहीं हो रही है और जब भी उनकी जिंदगी वह ऐसा खास दिन आएगा, वह छुपाएंगे नहीं.

Akshay Kumar’s Gold To Have A Fictional Take On 1948 Olympics

Director Reema Kagti’s upcoming sports drama Gold featuring Akshay Kumar is gradually becoming one of the highly anticipated films because of its subject.

While talking about the plot details of the film, Reema said that her film will be a fictional take on what actually happened during the 1948 Olympics. It will be a strong drama where the game of hockey will be placed prominently in the plot.

It will show the crucial journey of 12 years in the history of Indian sports. The film is based on the premises of India winning its 1st Gold medal as a free nation in the 1948 Olympics.

Sexual Violence Largely Ignored By Film Industry: Big B

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday said the issue of sexual violence and sexual consent have been largely ignored by the Indian film industry, and questioned the absence of an independent word to denote female valour.

Amitabh analysed the changing role of women in Indian cinema at the inaugural of the 22nd edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival here.

“Meenal Arora, Falak Ali and Andrea Tariang (the female characters in ‘Pink‘) are to all intents and purposes emancipated women with all liberties accorded by their financial independence. Yet the film raises unsettling queries largely ignored by our film industry. ‘Pink‘ brings the issues of sexual violence and sexual consent into urban middle class homes,” he said.

Talking about films like “Udta Punjab” and “Parched” which deal with sexual violence, Big B said “Pink” provokes audiences to question whether education has changed the way women are treated in urban India or not.

“The Age of Consent Act was legalised over 125 years ago in 1891. How many times has the value of consent been taken for granted in our society? How many times has our culture considered consent and specifically sexual consent important enough to be acknowledged and discussed? How many times has ‘No’ meant ‘No’,” he wondered.

Citing examples of Indian films like the 1936 “Achhut Kanyya“, Satyajit Ray’s “Ghare Baire” ,”Mahanagar“, “Abhimaan“, Shyam Benegal’s “Ankur“, Gulzar’s “Aandhi” to recent endeavours like “Lajja“, “Paa“, “Mardaani“, “Mary Kom“, “Queen“, “Piku“, “Nil Battey Sannata” and the latest “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil“, Big B highlighted how women’s portrayal in Indian cinema had changed from the stereotypical housewife to strong and independent characters fighting for their rights.

“Even the word ‘mardaani’ is derived from the word ‘mard’ … the word which is a description of male valour and strength. Why is there not an independent word for female valour? This is something which I feel needs debate and consideration,” said Amitabh, a UN ambassador for the girl child.

‘Commando 2’ To Release On January 6, 2017

Vidyut Jamwal and Adah Sharma-starrer “Commando 2” has been locked for release on January 6, next year.

Vidyut took to Twitter to announce the release date of the film, which is the second instalment of the 2013 film “Commando“.

Dear Zindagi Deals With Love & Relationships In The Time Of Tinder: Gauri Shinde

Director Gauri Shinde says actress Alia Bhatt’s character in “Dear Zindagi” will have an instant connection with the youth.

“Alia’s character in the film is one with which the youth will instantly connect and relate to. The situations she faces, people she meets and her attitude to love and relationships is reflective of the way norms in our society are evolving today,” Shinde said in a statement.

The makers of “Dear Zindagi” have collaborated with popular dating app Tinder for the film. And in one of the teasers, Alia can be seen using it and finding her match on the app.

Shinde says “the film deals with love and relationships in the time of Tinder”.

“This collaboration is, therefore, perfectly synergistic,” she added.

“Dear Zindagi“, which also stars superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is a collaboration of Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Hope Productions. The film is slated to hit the cinemas on November 25.

Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies, said: “Tinder is undoubtedly one of the most trending dating platforms and we are happy to associate with the platform.”

The Welcome Back actress has filed a complaint against a stalker (Twitter name Dr KG Guruprasad), who is from Karnataka. The alleged stalker has been passing lewd comments and tweets inappropriately about her on the social site.

Soha Ali Khan: Very Difficult To Compete With Superstar Parent

Her mother Sharmila Tagore is an iconic Bollywood actress of her times and brother Saif Ali Khan has been in the film world for over two decades. Soha Ali Khan says the going gets tough for star kids in filmdom as it is very difficult to compete with a superstar parent.


Asked if the journey in Bollywood becomes easier for those who come from film families, Soha told IANS, “The short answer is no, because everyone is ready to compare you. Most people want to bring you down. So you will never be able to do well in those comparisons. It’s very difficult to compete with a parent who has been a superstar.”

But the 37-year-old actress says, in one way, it is easier for star children as they at least get an opportunity.

“It is all about getting an opportunity, but then you prove yourself,” added Soha, who has been noticed for her work in films like “Rang De Basanti“, “Khoya Khoya Chand“, “Tum Mile“, “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns” and “31st October“.

She says even though she comes from a film family, she did not get a solo heroine launch.

“I’m a star kid and my mother is a superstar and my brother is a superstar, but I hope now people have understood it’s not like I got this amazing solo heroine launch. And it has not been easy. It has been a struggle and I have seen lots of failure,” added the actress, for whom movies like “Dil Kabaddi“, “Tera Kya Hoga Johnny” and “Mr Joe B. Carvalho” didn’t fetch great results.

Asked if she is keen to do a project with her mother and brother, Soha said: “It’s not for me to plan. A writer and director or producers have to come up with something that makes sense.”

Soha has earlier featured with her mother Sharmila in an English language film “Life Goes On” and has even featured along with Saif in various TV commercials. She found them fun to do.

“I know it will be fun working with them in a film, but it has to be a sensible script. And again, I want a good role in the film,” she added.

In her career, Soha — the daughter of Sharmila and legendary cricketer and former India captain Mansoor Ali Khan ‘Tiger’ Pataudi — has worked in Hindi, Bengali and English-language films. She feels that cinema, which was supposed to be an art, has become “100 percent business”.

“Since the 1970s, we have been making commercial cinema and non-commercial cinema. There were big budget films and smaller films that I have also been a part of, where making a lot of money was not the primary objective. Cinema is supposed to be an art. But I feel that it has unfortunately become 100 per cent business,” she said.

Soha said there was a time when box office figures didn’t matter to her. But that is not the case anymore. “Now I feel the atmosphere has become such that you can only work in feature films if you are commercially viable and you would only be cast if you are commercially viable. So now, box office success does matter to me,” she added.

Her 12-year journey in Bollywood, since her debut with “Dil Maange More“, has flown by, she reflected.

“I can’t believe that 12 years have gone by so quickly. I can’t believe I am as old as I am. The journey has been great fun. I really loved it. You shouldn’t compare yourself and your achievements with someone else’s success. It’s about what makes you content and I am really content.”

At the end of the day, she also admits that she is “not the most ambitious person”. “I don’t want to be constantly working. I don’t want to be in a rat race. I just want to do enough work to be financially independent and enjoy the kind of work I do,” said the actress, who is married to actor Kunal Khemu.
